American Humane Association Partners with Animal Planet's ROAR Initiative

Via PRNewswire - American Humane Association is proud to partner with Animal Planet's R.O.A.R. initiative for the second annual matching campaign.

During the campaign, R.O.A.R. will match consumer contributions dollar-for-dollar to help raise awareness and funding for Red Star Rescue teams' important work responding to animals in the most desperate need following hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, and cruelty cases.

Established in 2006, Animal Planet's R.O.A.R. is dedicated to improving the lives of animals in our communities and in the wild. The R.O.A.R. partners benefiting from this program help wild and domestic animals in the U.S. and abroad.

The campaign runs for eight weeks from September 1 through October 31. Consumer donations will be matched dollar for dollar up to $120,000 from the proceeds of Animal Planet licensed products.

"We are thrilled to be chosen again this year to partner with Animal Planet's R.O.A.R. campaign," said Dr. Robin Ganzert, American Humane Association President and CEO. "It is an opportunity to reach a wider audience about the lifesaving work our Red Star Rescue teams are doing for animals caught in disasters, natural and manmade. Our volunteers rescued and sheltered more than 70,000 frightened and hungry animals in the past five years alone. Thanks to this campaign, we raised nearly $60,000 in 2011 and with all the storms we're seeing, we hope to double that support this year."

American Humane Association is also competing for up to $20,000 in bonuses in various categories throughout the eight week campaign. The bonus categories include: Top Monthly Fundraiser – Dollar Amount ($2,500), Most Unique Number of Monthly Donations ($2,500), Spreading the Word – Highest Number of Shares on Facebook ($2,500), Loudest ROAR Heard by Judges ($2,500).
